His pictures are intimate views of quiet places. They show not only what a place looks like, but also how it feels to be there. These generally small oil paintings are created on site and sometimes refined in the studio. They are meant to be enjoyed in the home as a reminder of our relationship with the land. He says: "Painting on location provides a total experience for the artist. The time, weather, smells and sounds, as well as visual perceptions, all contribute to the character of a place. There's no better way to paint!" | |

David has earned a Bachelors degree in Fine Art and a Masters degree in Art Education. After five years in the graphic arts design field and ten years teaching art in public schools, he decided to devote full-time to painting. Studying with nationally known artists Matt Smith in Taos, NM and T.M. Nicholas in Lake Tahoe, CA led to the joy of working 'en plein air'.
